TRENTON, N.J., June 29 (ZFJ) — NJ Transit rail service saw many cancellations and delays during the heat wave from Monday, June 23, to Wednesday, June 25. The East Coast endured an early heat wave that reached 100 degrees at its worst. The National Weather Service reported a new record of 98 F (37 C) in Trenton and a tied record of 103 F (39 C) in Newark on the hottest day of the heat wave—Tuesday, June 24.

Washington Metro begins longer weekend hours, Red and Silver Line changes

WASHINGTON, June 22 (ZFJ) — Washington Metro’s longer weekend hours, Red and Silver Line changes, and new system map took effect on Sunday, June 22. Metrorail will open an hour earlier at 6:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and close an hour later at 2:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Starting Monday, June 23, Red Line trains will run more frequently, arriving at least every four, instead of five, minutes “during the busiest portions of weekday rush hours.
