EDISON, N.J., Nov. 4 (ZFJ) — The Edison Town Council election saw a Democrat sweep, with Robert J. Kentos, Biral Patel, and Kelli Dima all securing seats on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The Democrat candidates outpaced the Republican candidates by a margin of over 10,000 votes.
While the Democrats had three candidates, the Republican Party only had two nominations, and Elizabeth Conway was on David Tingle’s team, People’s Choice 2025.
Patel had been a member of the Edison Board of Education from 2021 to 2024, serving as board president in 2024. He chose not to run for reelection to the board in 2024.
Gloria Dittman, one of the Republican candidates, was the previous Republican nomination for mayoral candidate—though she withdrew to run for council instead. She was formerly president of the Edison Arts Society and CEO of the Edison Chamber of Commerce.
Conway regularly attends public hearings for the council and board of education.
Incumbent council president Margot Harris, Nishith Patel, and John Poyner—all members of Edison Mayor Sam Joshi’s council team when he was first elected in 2021—chose not to run for reelection this year.
Edison Council members serve four year terms.
Voter turnout was at 49.47%, with 30,393 ballots cast and 61,440 registered voters.
All results are unofficial until certified by the County Board of Canvassers on or before Nov. 19, 2025.
