COLLEGE PARK, Md., Oct. 24 (ZFJ) — Cornerstone Grill & Loft will have its liquor license suspended for 90 days, starting from this Friday, Oct. 30.

The Prince George’s County Board of License Commissioners (BOLC), which regulates the sale of alcohol in the county, confirmed the suspension as well as a $7,500 fine to the ZFJ over a phone call on Friday, Oct. 23.

The suspension means Cornerstone would not be able to legally sell alcohol for the rest of the fall semester and thus would lose out on holiday revenue, beginning with Halloween.

The bar has been accused of violating BOLC R.R. 26 B (14), under which the board may suspend or revoke a license for “the commission of any act by the licensee, his/her agents or employees that constitutes a danger to the peace and safety of the neighborhood.”

BOLC first heard this matter on Sept. 9 and again on Oct. 14.

The ZFJ is awaiting the publication of meeting minutes on Oct. 27 for further details on the suspension and its justification.

Brothers Greg and Mark Srour transformed their father’s original College Park bar, The Rendezvous Inn (nicknamed The ‘Vous) into Cornerstone (nicknamed Cstone) in 1997, according to the bar’s website.

The establishment is one of five bars serving the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD), campus.

The ZFJ has submitted a request for comment to bar management via Cornerstone’s website contact form.
